BOF: I was the coach of the 30-seed. Your team played great coming back from 5 down to beat us.

We ran out of gas and misplayed a couple of balls that killed us. Like you, we were put together just for this tournament- had a really great bunch of kids who played so hard for each other once they settled in. We had a great time all week too, and not just b/c we made it to the final 8.

We had to fight like crazy just to get in after an ugly game early in the tournament on Sunday- used more pitching than I would have liked in those "middle 2" games just to keep the runs allowed down to make playoffs. We made it on the number, so I guess we had to. LOL

We were supposed to have had our #2 "fresh" for our game with you on Friday, but I didn't believe him when he said his arm felt ok, so we tried to sneak one past you and almost got away with it. :-)

Your kids were a great bunch; they played hard and if someone had to beat us, I'm glad it was you. And your 3b (#3) was great on D- best 3b we saw all tournament.

Congratulations on a great run!

What a great group of kids you have. I actually thought you had us for a while. Off speed sometimes catches teams off balance and you almost got away with it. Congratulations also on a great tournament, and thanks for knocking off the 3rd seed for us. You are a keen sense for talent, our 3rd baseman was the most talented kid on our team, all 5'7" of him. BTW he also throws at 87 and I always felt he was the one who should have had a look for the national team. I would put him on any team I could at any time.

In the end the most talent we saw were on the Anderson 11's and the San Diego Show. They both were a notch above any teams we saw.

Congratulations to USA Baseball and all of the kids who participated.
Back home now after a weeklong baseball marathon. This week will forever be ingrained in my son. (and me Wink) This week was a life changing experience for him. It showed him that he can compete against the best of the best and has made him absolutely fearless on the baseball field. His perspective on the HS game has been completely changed because of this one week.

We lost to the SD Show for the bronze, but the kids could have cared less - just getting to the final day and playing in the stadium was an irreplaceable experience for them. Not taking anything from the other teams at the tournament, but the SD Show and Anderson 11 team’s had the most amazing line ups I have seen in youth baseball. I am quite sure these teams would/could compete with many college teams. As Xtreme posted they were just on another level. It just shows you how sometimes luck plays in these tournaments, because anyone in either of these teams’ brackets would have trouble getting through.

On top of this we get home and dig through week long pile of mail he has an invite to the Brewers Area Code tryouts next week……WOW ….the baseball buzz continues….
Husker: Judging by the crowds, I'd say most everyone saw him play. We played next to that circus for both games on Sunday. A couple hundred at a time I'd say.

I got to watch 1 at bat on our way out as one of their games went longer than ours. The bat speed is amazing. He is a big, strong, fast athlete who plays with supreme confidence. In terms of talent, he's very much the real deal.

I could have lived without the love-fest over a 16-year old ballplayer though. Not the kid's fault, but the SI article brings an element with it that probably doesn't belong in a 16u tournament.
I have been following along for close to a year now and really don't type much but do read all these forums. As a proud mother, my son got the start for the SD Show and the win for the bronze medal for the 16u West He just opened up his mail and there was an invitation to the 2011 PG Nationals. I'm wondering if this is something he should do?
Diamond Mom.

Personally I would recommend the PG 2011 National. My son plans on going also. He was the first pitcher that hung a change that your lead off hitter planted 390 feet in the hill side....still working on this pitch.....yikes, back to your question.

This is not based on any facts just my opinion, but we decided that the national level PG showcases are special and worth the cost. We have not done any of the regional ones as we felt the cost/benefit not worth it, but figured this one would get more attendance and at least get him on the radar for the PG National next year.

Congrats to you and the Show!
