This appeared today in the NY Times.

In a news release, U.C.L.A. said its accepted students had “demonstrated excellence in all aspects of their lives.” Citing its record 57,670 applications, the university proclaimed itself “the most popular campus in the nation.”

It is important that the HS athlete prepares early for this qualification process. The 4 A's - ability, academics, aptitude and attitude.

If you are accepted, do not become "careless".

This is serious business. There are five waiting for your seat in the classroom.

Many decades ago, as a young freshman at the "cow" college in East Lansing, the 5,000 freshman were told by the Dean, "look to your left and look to your right", they will not be here in 4 years".
Six years later with 2 degrees, a College World Series and 21 months in US Army, I left for the California "gold rush" and "never returned"to Michigan.

Yes; I remember like it was yesterday.

This year, we have 15 players, coaches and parents
from the Tampa area traveling on the Cubs and Rangers teams. They will travel to Brisbane [climate similar to Tampa] and Adelaide South Australia [old England]. Each team plays 11 games.

Maybe you can join us. What are Adam's plans for college? Can I help?

Bob, he is a sophomore this year at the University of Tampa playing for Coach Urso. He got his first taste of the D2 College World Series last year. Unfortunately they were 0-2 and Bar-b-que, but will go back at it in the spring in their quest for another try.

I am sure you will enjoy yourselves again in Australia, I assume Mr. Aliano is going again?

Stay safe.
