Can a varsity player who is a junior, soph, or freshmen, play in a JV game on Sat. and turn around two hours later and play with the Varsity against the same school JV and Varsity team?
All players are given the same guidelines which states that they may play in a certain number of games. 5-A the limit is 17 games and 3 tournaments. Tournaments vary on how many games a team will play. If the team only plays in 2 tournaments 2 more games may be added: Now 19 games and 2 tournaments. In short you can play 2 games per tournament you do not enter. Hope this is not confusing. It is allowed and happens all the time. Abuse is the better word for it.
Note: During Spring Break all players are eligible if they are failing or not. Say a player has not been playing due to grades. He has games to play that won't put him over the limit. THis could be the case. Srs. are allowed to play JV ball as well, but it is seldom done for obvious reasons.
Swing doctor is right. Many times a school will have their JV catcher change and dress/play on the Varsity game. If they play more than the games allowed, they are not eligible for playoffs and team could be penalized.
He can play as many as he is able as long as he only plays 1 day before the close of school, on the last school day of that week. Exception is a tournament. He could play in a doubleheader on Tuesday and that is considered 1 day. (yet 2 games) (springbreak-drop all restrictions)
