UIL/Private School question

Couldn't he call TAPS?

Is the player on Varsity? Sub-varsity? This makes a difference if you are transfering within UIL. Not sure how it applies going UIL to private. If on varsity, there is a waiting period. Not if you are sub-varsity.

I'm not a UIL representative, so take it for what it is worth.

He would not be eligible for TAPPS district play if he transfers now. He had to transfer by March 2nd. Not too sure about the SPC rules.

To eligible and help any spring team, the transfer should happen before the new year. TAPPS decrees 15 school day waiting period after the first day attended at new school.

Why the transfer now?

To 'be' eligible.

Drama with the coach. I told him to bite his tongue till the end of the year and make a decision this summer.

After talking to him this afternoon, seems like he's going to take my advice.

My school recently lost one pitcher and one of our best hitters [both sophomores] because.. well, this hasn't been our best season, and they didn't like how they were being neglected because of it. They wanted to be noticed, possibly for college ball, in their next 2 high school years and wouldn't get any attention on such an unsuccessful team. They both transferred to a different school district (a CISD) which is very close to my town. It's still 32-5A, but neither of them were eligible at first. They're both now playing on JV instead of Varsity for their new school. Does putting them on JV have anything to do with eligibility of switching schools?

Yes it does. If they were found by the district executive committee to have transferred for "athletic reasons" and do not reside in the new school's attendance zone...then they are ineligible for varsity competition for 1 year.

that stiiiiiinks. i feel bad for them. not to mention, right after they transferred, my school's team kicked their butts.

dont feel bad for them they chose to circumvent the rules by moving for athletic reasons.
the baseball gods will take care of them and anyone associated with this turn of events
