Umpire ejects entire crowd

If you read the article closely you will see that it is noted that the umpire over reacted--what else is new with umpires---used to be that umpires were "deaf"--I swear they strut on the field looking to "hear" things

Good for the ump! It gets old quickly listening to the daddy ball whining that shows up to the ball park.

I heard the ump interviewed on the radio last night. Apparently the arguing and unruliness had to do with questioning his calls.

I guess it was easier to throw everyone out than to attempt to make consistent strike calls.

(I know, I'm a pitcher's mom... sue me...)

Sounds like the umpire is too thin-skinned. From his actions, I'd say he needs to be doing something else other than umpiring. A good umpire would be oblivious to that stuff. Especially if he's getting rattled only because the crowd was questioning his calls.

He should try being an ump in our town!!!

While he might have overreacted a little bit, I really don't have much of a problem with it. The game of baseball would be so much better without fans there..

I say good job! I can honestly say that I have been utterly shocked by the behavior of some North Texas parents this baseball season. Good job to the ump. High School baseball would be a whole lot better if most of the parents weren't allowed to be at the game.

Umpires have bosses too. Most of them, though, don't sit in the stands.

I read the article and its not clear what the crowd was doing.....yet I am not sure where he got the authority to clear the stands...maybe iowa is different......my state only authorizes me to go to the site adminstrator and have him address the fan situation...

my authority ends at the fences.....inside it falls to me.......outside it falls to the site admin.....

ooooo. I just read this, Burlington is not far from me. I also think that the umpire actually resides in the town where I live.

I know he is listed on the umpire list for our city league games.. I am sure we have had him umpiring one of my son's games.
