Just wondering what other states charged for umpires. In my region of TX, umpires get $65/umpire/game.

For NFHS games in my area of W.PA, we get $50 for varsity, this pay rate is established by the AD of each school so some pay less.
I have received $35/40 for freshman/JV and $45/50 for varsity on average.
There is no mileage paid.

The $65 is what our association went to last year, and that is a flat fee with no break for sub-varsity, double headers, or tournys. That made it tough when I had a $3200 bill for my tourn., but we have a hard time recuiting umps. I guess they thought that might help with retention and recruiting. I do not know what the solution is for keeping the number of umpires up.
$65 is a pretty strong rate......Good quality, trained Umpires are always in short supply....
I feel your pain as I am an officer in my HS/College Chapter and umpire retention and recruitment is always a problem. Its clearly difficult, and it is not totally monetary based.
When people hear of our fee structure, we get the few applicants who think its easy money....usually they dont last beyond the uniform and equipment costs to begin to umpire...
