I've got another interesting one. This actually happened in softball and is much more likely to happen in softball than baseball, but I couldn't find a rule in either OBR or Fed softball to address, so I'm just curious. I'll pose as a baseball question.

R1, BU is behind pitcher on the second base side, no outs. Routine pop up to F4, BU changes position and doesn't just touch, but absolutely plants F4 into the ground (immagine 300 lb BU and 85 pound 16U second baseman). Ball drops.

What do you call and where do you place runners?

To make it a little more interesting, defensive team has nine players. F4 can't continue after play due to injury. Under Fed baseball rules, now what?

What they called, was "umpire interference", immediate dead ball, awarded batter first base, forced R1 to second. Basically what they would've called if the batted ball hit the umpire before passing an infielder.

My daughter hit the pop up, which was scored a hit. This didn't sound right to me, so I went looking through the rules for it. Makes sense if there is no rule to address, you just let the play finish and call nothing.

The defense moved an outfielder to second base and since it was a showcase, we provided another outfielder so they could play with nine. Opposing coach didn't argue, he was busy tending to his injured player and not really concerned about the outcome of the play.

In a HS baseball game, there would've been more mayhem.
