my son is unable to play this season. Dr. advises him to take the season off to recoup the right knee. No running, jumping, catching etc. Dr. said 4-6 weeks. What should he do to stay sharp? Upper body workouts? he is really bumed but wants to do something so he doesn't get rusty.

All you coaches and paarnets who have had similar issues please advise.

My son spent three months on crutches last summer. He went to all the local games (in high school that would be all) and did upper body lifting. Emphasize not pushing it with the leg until he has medical clearance. He could hurt himself when he thinks he feels ok.

when my son went down with what turned out to be a rotator cuff tear, he spent the rehab period working on lower body....

He experienced some significant gains in lower body strength and quickness due to the isolation training on his lower body....

in other words, not a time to lay back....work what you can while you can..... but no cheating....the injured knee is off limits......heal that first...but dont let the other parts take the time off too...
