CP - Congrats to Julian, it truly takes a very special player and person to make this commitment! You've done a great job raising a son who meets ARMY's high standard of character and ability. Also, Coach Reid is legit!

That's great news and hopefully I'll be able to get over and see him play. Army has a great staff.

Thanks, piaa_ump. He is my non-baseball player younger boy. At Christmas he told me he gets to be a drill instructor this summer! (This the kid I had to kick in the butt to get out of bed to go to school?) 
Thank you all again for your support and encouragement. Julian received his formal appointment 2 days before Christmas. Our best to everyone, particularly those who have sons or daughters serving, for the new year!

If a player has had a couple of knee surgeries will this prevent him from playing basbeball in the Army for example?

Congrats Carmelpitcher! My oldest son is a 2009 graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point, now commanding a tank unit and serving in Iraq.
There are no words to describe the quality of young people who attend the Academy. Please take every opportunity to travel up to Highland Falls and around the grounds as often as possible and you'll see what I mean. Duty Honor Country...they live and breathe it.
