John Cohen has some nice experience on his resume but he's competing in the SEC.

He played at Mississippi State for Ron Polk before my son played there in '91-'93.

Great recruiter. Although I doubt that Kentucky high school baseball will provide much competitive talent for the SEC. In my opinion, he's likely to look at Florida and Alabama and Mississippi and Tennessee for talent.
Beenthere - Coach Cohen has recruited many kids from Kentucky, including several kids from my son's HS. Several of his top players are from here in Lexington. I'm not sure about the recruiting class for '06, but the prior two were top 25 classes in the country. However, with that said - Mom, the roster is very large. Many kids left this past year for various reasons. Long time assistant, Jan Weisberg left and is now the coach at Transylvania University here in Lexington. IMO that was a loss for the program. Cohen has a very intense style on the field. The support of UK ball has grown since Cohen has come, but I question what will happen in the future. They are in the middle of doing some renovations on the field/facitility which is very nice IMO. Lexington is a city of around 275,000 people with lots to do. Feel free to PM if you have specific questions. My son has two former teammates currently on the team as well as several other kids we know personally.

Cohen may be looking for players in those states, but if so he isn't having much luck landing them. Their roster for 2006 has only 1 Florida player, and 4 Tennessee players, while of the other 30+, 12 are from Kentucky and 6 of those are from Lexington. Most of the rest are from the north.
