America East is ranked #25 out of 31 conferences......probably will have the weakest conference champion that I can remember.

It has improved in the sense that it is more balanced than ever before
The problem is this and it happens with the hoops teams as well many teams don't want to play strong out of conference teams and thus the conference RPI is bad

trimper probably will not be there to long if they keep losing.they always have had a winning tradition in baseball.

Also, it looks like they have talent and Trimper was a guy who supposed to be able to bring talent to Orono, which admittedly, probably is a tough place to recruit. This isn't about bashing the coach (don't know him or his staff)....I just have trouble understanding what is going on. And, as I said earlier, this program looks like its headed in the wrong direction currently.

Before we rip too many holes in the Black Bears, please note that in the first game on Saturday they started a freshman and use two freshmen in relief. As for position players, 11 saw playing time in that game. 2 seniors, 3 juniors, 4 sophomors and 2 freshmen.

Just thought that in year three, the results of a new coach's recruiting efforts should start being felt. Plus, I don't think he walked into a re-build situation. And further, as I recall there were some transfers-in that should speeded the process along.

Just some insight from seeing them play many games this year. Trimper has had 2 recruiting classes that are now playing. Weekend starting pitchers, 2 freshman, transfer soph with 20 innings under his belt and the 4th spot was never established as many tried. Of the position players, freshaman-3B, SS-Soph, 2b-Jr, 1B split between so and sr, C all games soph, LF- about 5 different guys, CF-Jr, RF those same 5 guys of which 1-Sr, 1-Jr, 1-So and 2 FR. Bullpen, all underclassmen. Bsically they played with 1 SR and 2 Jr's in the line up day to day.
They also have a very young coaching staff in both age and experience other then coach Trimper.
What really gives them a pass was that Coach Trimper tore his ACL, MCL and medial maniscus the first week of Feb practice and was never and is still not even close to 75%. He is normally a very hands on guy who is very passionate about his job. This injury set him and the team back great strides. Hopefully with his 3rd class coming in, things will be very different in Orono next spring. Get well coach !!!!

I don't want to be overly critical, but what happened to the last year or two of Coach Kosty's recruits? Did they just not work out? It was my impression that Coach Trimper inherited a pretty good situation. With some new energy recruits, throw in some good quality transfers (like your son, Coach Merc) and I figured that the Black Bears would be rocking and rolling back to the NCAAs again. Perhaps going even deeper than in recent past. The declining win-loss record, especially in conference, is what has me concerned.

Prediction: If Trimper doesn't work out look for Ed Flaherty to be offered the job. He played at Maine for Butterfield and Winkin. He's the coach at Southern Maine. He's won two D3 national championships. He has almost 700 wins. He was approached in the past and didn't want to uproot his kids. The youngest is close to done with high school. If the name Flaherty sounds familar to SEC fans, one son plays short for Vanderbilt.
Coach Flaherty's younger son although injured this year has committed to follow his brother to Vandy.
With the number of quality pitchers Trimper has brought in this past year and those who will be on campus this fall the situation should turn. There wasn't a lot of depth this past year at any positions. They played the last 25 games with just 3 infielders. Not a lot of room for rest or error.

Keith Bilodeau had a mid-season hand injury and had to sit out the rest of the season. Prior to that he was putting up numbers similar to your brother.
Kyle Stilphen was named the 2008 Maine Gatorade Player of the Year on Wednesday. Stilphen is batting .542 with 3 home runs, 4 doubles, and 15 RBIs through 11 games. He has committed no errors playing shortstop.
Taylor Lewis - I don't have his season stats, but from reading articles in CT newspapers throughout the season.....he seems like a speedy and powerful clutch hitter. He had a game winning RBI single in Montville's 4-3 win on Wednesday in a state playoff game. Montville plays in a quarterfinal game on Saturday.
Pat Quinn - Don't really have much on him.
Matt Klaczkiewicz has been a great 2-way player at Dickinson H.S. this season. His team is 21-1 and plays today in a state semi-final game. His pitching stats: 42 IP, 14 H, 82 Ks, 18 BB, 0.67 ERA. His hitting stats: .493 BA, 67 AB, 33 H, 11 2B, 1 HR, 9 BB, 5 Ks.
