Looking for insight on Husker Baseball. I know that they have great facilities some of the best in the county. Can and will the coaching staff develop players to get back to the CWS? My son will be visiting the campus soon; just wanted to see if anyone had any words on the program or coaching staff.

I grew up in the great state of Nebraska and attended UNL. Great university and passion for every sport at UNL is obvious. Their athletes lack noting for facilities and tremendous academic support as evident by the NCAA leading number of academic all Americans they have across all sports.
I have a 2016 son who will be going to a D1 school next year. He attended most of the major recruiting events and tournaments and I might have seen a coach once. They didn't reach out and recruit son so I cant comment much else on staff.
From a fan's perspective would like them to be a little more competitive in Big 10 before I think a return to the CWS is very realistic.
Darrin Erstad is the Head Coach... World Champion w/Angels, and played the game the right way. We had quite a few emails back and forth with Coach Silva.... He impressed me.
Kid from my son's travel team walked on there this year and made it. Not many California kids set out for the Great Plains. Family is really psyched, though. The Dad is an old Cornhusker himself and is as pleased as punch. Nebraska was their number 1 choice from early on, even though the kid didn't have an assured roster spot and could definitely have played elsewhere -- though he wasn't getting a lot of D1 love. Erstad was set to be interviewed by the LA Dodgers for their managerial job, but backed out and apparently has decided to stay for the long term. That's something.
