My son Alex will be playing at UNO - University of New Orleans Privateers this fall. Was a long wait to find a place but in the end it came down to video. Video, video, video. Until we made video available, stats didn't mean much to the coaches. Also playing summer ball with the Louisiana All Stars didn't hurt. I believe it legitimized his credentials. UNO will be dropping from D1 to D3 so Alex is receiving Academic Scholarships and LA TOPS.

Good advice and congrats to Alex! I agree that stats generally don't mean that much although large numbers of strikeouts (for pitchers) and homeruns (for hitters) can garner interest in and of themselves. That is the exception however.

They officially pulled out of the Sun Belt Conference at the end of June and got approval to begin transition to D3 in Late June/Early July. Transition will take a year or two. Will be D1 independent until then. Not sure on how many are transferring out and how many will stay, but this is a good opportunity to play against top notch competition for a year or two then compete at a high level once in D3.
