This play happened yesterday:
R2 breaks for third - pitcher from stretch starts his delivery and throws to third (no runner on third before the play started) - assume for discussion his left leg did not cross the rubber. Is this a balk for throwing to an unoccupied base or is Fed rule different than OBR 8.05(d) which I believe permits this play.
