A Brief update...

2019 has always been a pretty successful, but under velocity RHP, relying on a good change, and a much improved of late curve, along with good control and deception (1.1 ERA Jr year). He finished the summer toping out at 79. His goals are to play D3 at a decent school in the NC/VA/SC area. The top end, though, was always the concern, and since he is young for his graduation year, we've always kept hoping that the man muscles would come (at one point he was 6 1, 148).

The late blooming that he has been hoping for is finally happening. Jr is now 6 3, 185, and has been lifting hard since the end of Fall baseball. Last week he threw his first radar'd  bullpen in a while and he was 82-83. His overall strength metrics are midway between beginner and novice (according to how strengthlevel.com measures it) and so he is hoping that if he is able to get it solidly over the novice bar he will be able to sit mid-80s, and catch the eye of the coach at his favorite school (Roanoke College).

He still has a long way to go, but this big improvement has been a big shot in the arm for him, and we are hoping that it will put him over the top at a few of the ODAC schools he is considering.

At 6'3 with plenty of room to add weight, if he gets to 85-ish consistently he'll have plenty of opportunities.  A HS teammate of my son was 6'6, maybe 195 when he finished his HS senior season.  No real offers....and was 83-84 at best that spring.  He kept working out over the summer...went to a showcase in July and ended up at an AAC school.....6'3 and taller with long arms and room to grow gets noticed.  Good luck

Had never heard of that site, checked it out out of curiosity and my biggest issue with the database is the age groupings are TOOOO broad.  They have 14-17 then 18-23.  The diff from 14 to 17 is HUGE as is 18 to 23.   In very general terms I've always considered a kid strong if they are squatting/deadlift 2X their bodyweight and/or can bench press their bodyweight 10X.  Those are the numbers I always put in my boys heads to shoot for.
