I know many of you will watch your kids play baseball this weekend, either at college or HS. Here in Iowa, we're projected to have snow, freezing rain and another three months before we hit the field.
So I'm going to snuggle in and watch baseball movies. Last snowstorm was The Rookie. It was okay.
What do you recommend for a snowy weekend?

Most of my favorites are movies I don't intend to watch again anytime soon -- Bull Durham, the Natural, Major League, Field of Dreams, Sandlot, Bad News Bears.
Looking at what Google shows as top baseball movies there are a few that I have not seen in a very long time that I should see again: The Bingo Long Traveling All-Stars, Bang the Drum Slowly, and Eight Men Out
I don't think I have ever seen Fear Strikes Out, so I should rectify that.

Gotta be Sandlot. (the original) I still watch with my sons, and wife, now and again. I grew up in the 60's so there is some additional nostalgia for me. The son's just like. it.

Trouble With the Curve and For Love of the Game are two of my favorites.
Your son is a RHP, right? Please tell me that you've already watched Fastball (Netflix).
Mr Baseball with Tom Selleck is a good one also.
Bull Durham gets watched at least once every winter no mater what! The Gold Standard of baseball movies for me.
The Sandlot is almost like an audio book for me. When they boys were young they used to watch it every car ride of 2 hours or more, often on the way there and back...I can still HEAR the argument scene ending in "you play ball like a girl" and the wendy peppercorn thrown out of the pool scene like it was yesterday. I think I only actually ever watched it once.
Major League is always good.
For the love of the game is a bit serious for me but a great movie.
8 men out I find sad and just don't enjoy it.
I liked Moneyball more then most and highly recommend it.
First I'd start with Long Gone the best baseball movie ever lol. Then and pretty much in order

No one's mentioned "Sugar" yet. It's about a player from the Caribbean moving to the US to follow his dreams of playing MLB. Drama, good for HS age on up. Seemingly realistic.
Not a movie, but Eastbound and Down is off color, but hysterical. Gotta love Kenny Powers.

When did baseball movies stop being wholesome? Around the time of Ball Four? You could draw some interesting conclusions about our culture based on the historical environment the films came out of.
My personal favorite is the Natural. However seeing as you have three months to kill....Ken Burns’ baseball documentary is really good....10 innings worth of the history of baseball.

Million dollar arm, nice movie with a different cultural perspective. Mr. Baseball too, shooto!
When it was a game and Ken Burns baseball can provide hours of great historical footage. Nothing better on a terrible weather day to watch those docs and nap.

For me, “ The Natural” is the best baseball movie. “Field of dreams” next.
A White Sox fan must say Eight Men Out. But also love Moneyball, Major League (I and II) and one I haven't seen yet here: Mr. Baseball.
"Mr Baseball" always enjoyed watching.
