We have a thread on who the D1 players are,now lets update their achievements, and D2 and D3 player's as well.

For instance, Kevin Dubler hit HR #2 last night and went 3-5 with 3 RBI leading NIU over Central Michigan.

Joe Dunnigan continue's his hot hitting for # 21 Oklahoma with a 1-3 game VS #13 ASU.

Soxnole, great idea.

Small correction, though...Kevin Dubler (from DGS) is at Illinois State (probably a small confusion since Justin Behm from DGN is at NIU).

Congratulations to Kevin. Hang in there and keep up the good work. There's a lot of young talent on that team and they will continue to get better as they go.

BREW.....way to go.......and to the rest from our state.......

Bradley University beats-up on Cornell...

Thirteen players contributed to the record 25 hit effort including freshman shortstop Dan Brewer’s (Brookfield, Ill./Lyons Township) career-best five hit day. Brewer’s five hits are the best single game Bradley total since 1994 and is the third best total in the past 25 years of Bradley baseball.

Bradley’s offensive output will make several entries into the record books including the single-game record for RBI (24) and second-best single game marks for triples (3), at bats (48) and total bases (39).

Brewer’s record setting day didn’t end with hits. The Bradley freshman also tied the second-best single-game RBI mark with six and recorded the sixth-best total base game with 10 total bases.

Junior Ryan Curry (Downers Grove, Ill./South) continued his hot hitting with a 3-for-4 effort that included three runs scored and three runs batted in while extending his hitting streak to six games.

Bradley leadoff man, junior Brock Luxmore (New Windsor, Ill./Sherrod) scored three runs and added three hits to the attack and freshman left fielder Colby Luttrell (Kincaid, Ill./South Fork) recorded three hits of his own and scored twice.

Brewer is Player of the day.

Right behind him:

Aaron Newman of Northwestern...3-4
Larry Gemp of UIC..............3-4
David Cales of Mizzou...4 shut out innings
Brian Porter of Bradly..3 shut out innings and 1-1 at the plate
Joe Dunnigan of the Sooners stays hot with a HR VS ASU
Brian Schust of Wake Forest go's 2-5

Mike Stalowy is playing very solid for ISU
Saw this on the Perfect Game website about Cales.
"David Cales excelled both on the mound and at the plate at PG and WWBA events, but has been primarily a pitcher as a freshman at Missouri. He’s 1-0 with a save in 16.1 innings working out of the bullpen, with only 8 hits allowed and 18 K’s. We’re betting that Cales’ nasty slider has something to do with his success."

Miles Clauss has been traveling with Texas. He has had only one inning of work this year. He gave up an earned run at Stanford on 1 hit and a strikeout. He has been up in the pen a few times, but has not gotten the call. The word is that he is in the mix and throwing very well. He must be, if he's one of 25 players traveling with the Horns. You do not make the traveling squad at UT unless you've got it!
BoomerIL,

Thanks for asking. Sorry for the late response…didn’t see your request. My son was asked to red shirt. It’s tuff to be asked to sit a year when you have been a starter with competitive programs since you can remember, tuff to sit and watch your former team mates from HS, travelball, and college peers get their opportunities as freshmen and contribute while sitting on your hands, tuff for mom and dad as well. That being said it has been explained that he is part of this program and that it is best for the team and my son to sit out a year. The way it was explained to him was that the coach did not want to waist a year of eligibility for, at best, a handful of appearances. They want him get bigger and stronger and get a year of program lifting under his belt. He went down there weighing 160-165 (6’3”) and he is up to about 185 (6’4”). They would like him to be at least 190, preferably 200+ and shaving on a daily basis (LOL). To be honest, it gives him a year to physically mature. Talent and ability wise he fits right in. Talent is separated by a very fine line at this level. Part of this process is to trust the coach to do the right thing for not only the program but for your son. They told him that he would not have been invited to the program if he didn’t fit into the team’s plans. Currently 4 pitchers in this program (2 starters) were freshman red-shirts. I have found out that it is not an uncommon practice at this level to red-shirt freshman pitchers.

Enough about me… It’s great to see that the “sons of Illinois” are doing so well. Mrs. Smokey thinks I waist waaaay too much time on the computer Saturdays and Sundays jumping from game-tracker and live-stats checking up on all the local talent in college. Caught Copp’s first college strike-out against ASU. Awesome stuff!

Keep it up boys… You’re makin’ us proud!

Smokey.....

Great to hear he is growing and getting stronger. I'm glad we don't have to face him this year. He killed-us last year at your place.

There are so many factors as you know, that kids and parents don't realize when it comes to making, and then playing at a D1 school. I'm sure, like us, that you have learned many things from this website through the years. It has helped your son and your family make better, more knowledgable decisions about college, and college baseball.

The kids want to be "wanted", and even the parents want to see and feel that for their son. After all, they are separating from the security net they have had for eighteen years or so, and need to trust, basically strangers who will hopefully pick-up where you left-off. It also sounds like you have great communications with the coach. It seems reassuring!

Oh, and regarding 'us guys' spending too much time on this website, like I said before, if it wasn't for this website, who knows where our kids would be going to college, especially if they are going to play baseball.

P.S.

I posed this question to Corky9999 the other day.... go back and think about how many new friends, opportunities, pieces and bundles of information, tournaments, showcase, instructors, scouts, coaches, and other things you have gotten from this website. Just sit back and ponder that for awhile. This site is invaluable!!!!!!!!!
