Actually, I think the fine imposed on him recently, Tebow leaving might have sealed the deal.

ESPN radio report I heard mentioned health reasons. Said he had devoted 24 years of his life to football and was timed to focus on health and family.
I'm not a Gator fan at all. Never have been. However, Urban Meyer has been THE coach for the Gators since his arrival. That cannot be disputed. I just hope it's nothing serious with his health. That would be a sad way to leave the game he loves.

As more news comes out it appears Urban has a heart condition. He has been in the hospital a couple of times and has complained of chest pains. It is now being reported that Urban wants to step down to address his health concerns and spend more time with his family. He is going to have a press conference soon. I wish him well he has certainly put his heart and soul into the game and no pun intended.
There was a recent SI article that mentioned his heart problem. It said he was a major sideline pacer and screamer before the first diagnosis of heart problems.
Is he now the Notre Dame coach in waiting as they wait to see what Kelly does?
I think this is also the first time a bowl game has two teams, Florida/Cinncy, who will have new coaches the following season.

I am understanding that his health issues, though not life threatening, are stress related.
I am sure heading to another premier college football pressure cooker would be from going to one fire to the next. I also would hope that he wouldn't pull a Nick Saban stunt, that would really po the Gator Nation.
I hear he is a fireballer, and he's had one tough year that can make anyone sick. Also hear he needs some time off, it will be interesting to see who they replace him with, that should pretty much tell the story whether he will be back next year or not.
