Urgent, Dog Name Needed

Our dog (a dachshund) is named SLIDER...

One name a friend had for his cat was U-know. When someone asked the cats name the response was "You Know"..........much like "whos on first"

My favorite for a pup is

A few years ago my son came home with a male lab puppy and named it "Pudge". Pretty logical for a pitcher to name his dog after a catcher.

"Pudge" might work for a female puppy if it is built just right.

We have one of our Goldens named "Homer"...

Our Golden's named Alex, after the Stroh's Beer dog that retrieved beer from the refrigerator on the Stroh's commercials. Know of a Boston Terrier named Yaz, and a BuLldog named Wrigley.

At one time, we were thinking of getting a "presonalized" auto license plate with a baseball reference...couldn't be more than 6 letters/numbers. Among the front-runners were:

FST-BAL
SLO-CRV
CHNG-UP
TURN-2
DBL-PLA


The list went on...

You could always call him, "Babe."

Depends on your favorite team.

Yankees: Yogi, Babe, Mick, Joe D.

Red Sox: Ted or Yaz

etc.

Someone recently told me of a puppy born that wasn't supposed to be "medically possible". They called the puppy "Oops".

Keeping with 08Dad's idea how does Commissar sound?...named after a relic of the failed Soviet Empire. You can call him комисса for short.́

We had a registered Yellow Remale Lab years ago. Daughter of a National Champion.

We called her Liebchen. Her registered name was Mein Kleines Liebchen. With a name like that, and before we had our boys, I think you can tell who "ruled the roost"...

SportsDad&Fan, Go with the name that has meaning. You have already said the name I like --- "Urgent" is what I would name the lab. You could go for the "sports" version of urgent which is "Hustle".
Then again you might go with: "SportsDog&Fan".

Call the dog, LACES. I just thought of that. I think it sounds nice, although most people wouldnt immediately think baseball.

I like Catcher43's pick of "Laces". Baseball name, but feminine.

For a girly dog, you need to go to Target too! They have a line of furnishings called "Simply Chic". Very cute stuff! Well, they have dog stuff from collars to food bowls in this linethat are so very girlie! The females in your house would love it! "Laces" would love it!

Did anyone mention 'Scout' yet? I also like Dinger as someone else mentioned.

Name it after your one of your hated rivals. That way everytime you hit the dog with a rolled up newspaper you will not feel as guilty.

I REALLY liked the name "Dinger" (actually DB2B suggested it to me). We were between "Homer" and "Dinger" when my husband said "I'll be darned if the dog runs away and I have to go around the neighborhood saying 'Anyone seen my Dinger?' "....so..."Homer" it is!

Goaldie, Netty, and that takes care of hockey and basketball.

Baseball: Pepper, Alley, Runner, and Cutter.

Our 10-yr-old male yellow lab is named "Halsey", after baseball announcer Halsey Hall. I don't know if Halsey would work for a girl, though.

I like "Laces" suggested above, and her nickname could be "Lacie" which sounds quite feminine and cute.

I have had 2 dogs since I have been married-

Our first was a boy we named Nike because he was black and had 4 white paws. He was around for 17 years.

We then got a girl and named ger Gabby after Gabby Hartnett. We are big Cub fans.

Our neighbors named their dog Gordie after Howe.


You have to see her to really see what name fits. She will do something really cute & funny and that will help.

See what she will retrieve-Baseball,softball or hockey puck. I am betting on the baseball.

Friends have dogs named "Louie" and "Slugger" after "Louisville Slugger". Another has a "Ribby" after RBI.
