I have a story, but I really shouldn't be tellin it....

2-3 fall seasons ago (I can't recall exactly) my son played an event at this complex.

As we were driving in, we noticed a van full of players making their way across the parking lot toward the front gate.

I looked over at my youngest son and said "Check it out a teams dressed out in Tarheel Blue - that's really cool"....

As we passed through the front gate, I looked over at the field immediately on the left and noticed a lot of players loosening up. I told my same son " gee there's a lot of kids on that team, they must have two teams entered in this event and be warming up together".

A lady in front of me (who I didn't know) overheard me and turned around with a BIG smile on her face and said "that's the NC Tarheel Baseball team, they are playing here while their new complex is being built".....

So after watching my son throw great ( Smile) for his 3-4 innings I took advantage of the opportunity and watched the Tarheels practice and intersquad for the next two hours in front of 20 scouts.

It is a nice facility and one that I'll remember for a long time as a result of all the above. Big Grin Big Grin Big Grin

The town of Cary put forth several million dollars to build the facility to lure USA baseball to the area. The fees for field use by outside teams helps pay for the up keep of the four fields and the day to day operations. They have a full time crew who keep the fields and grounds up year round in tip top condition. Showcase teams as well as some HS tourneys are played there as well and the cost is not cheap to get the site but it shouldnt be for what you are getting.

I am still waiting for PG to come to Cary and host a tourney at some point and time. The TOS is held there each year as well.
