I'm enjoying this post more each day. Since you're down there, please tell Tony Rodriguez and Dan Child that Dan Sozzi says HELLO.

Grandson played on a travel ball team with Dan a few years ago. Dan had a good fastball back then and you could see that he had a lot of potential. Have not seen him pitch recently but those that have say he can get it in the low 90s.

In response to your comments about Dan Child Jr.,. yes, he sits at 91-93 consistently these days, with an 85-87 mph cutter. For a 16 year old class of '09 kid, that's pretty special. He committed earlier this summer to play baseball at Oregon State, as did Jake Rodriguez.

I got the update on Team USA earlier today. Dan Child finally got his turn on the mound, and he combined with another USA pitcher to throw a no-hitter vs. Brazil. For the second game in a row, Jake Rodriguez had 4 RBI's.

Team USA is now 5-0, and is playing Venezuela right now.

I can see that it is a fiesta down there with lots of distractions.
