Just got back home, left in the 7th but USD played a heck of a ballgame!
Kyle was cruising but took a shot in the ankle in the 4th. Josh Butler pitched a great game!

Do you have a son at USD? Or did you just go to watch a great game? Just wondering...our son plays at USD.

I have son who is currently 13 years old. He really likes Texas Baseball and I am a huge Josh Butler fan(USD). We got there 2 hours early to watch TEXAS take batting practice(pretty impressive) and my son got to see these huge guys show their stuff.
The final score was 4-2 and Kyle Mculloch took a line shot off his ankle in the 4th inning. Butler was and Kyle were both pretty unhittable as they mixed up speeds and were throwing their fastballs in the 90's. Both maxed at 94 mph and the cool part was sitting one row behind the 40 or so plus scouts at the game! Watching the guns go up unison as the pitchers threw was funny. I have to admit Kyle from texas pitches like a young Mike Mussina. Everthing he threw he threw for a strike. His breaking ball was just filthy. My son plays on a very good travel ball team here in San Diego and I told him," if you really love this game and you want to keep pursuing baseball then this is what you will probably face". When Shane Butler threw the first pitch of the game it was a strike at the knees for 94 mph. My son looked at me and said," I can't wait for practice tonite". Needless to say we will be attending many more games at USD in the future. Great place to watch a ballgame!

The game marked the 2006 season opener for both clubs as the Horns fell to 0-1 overall and the Toreros moved to 1-0 on the new year and also gave USD its first-ever victory over UT in seven chances.

In the bottom of the fourth, USD second baseman Keoni Ruth drew a leadoff walk and came around to score on a double down the right field line by Justin Snyder to give the Toreros a 1-0 lead. McCulloch then got his next batter to line out, but the ball deflected off his foot and resulted in his exit from the game. From there, Randy Boone (Yoakum, Texas) came on in relief and after getting the first out of the inning on an appeal of the line drive off McCulloch, worked out of a two-on, two-out jam on a nice fielding play by Chais Fuller (Fairfield, Calif.) and Chance Wheeless (Round Rock, Texas).
One inning later, the Toreros placed runners on second and third with one out via a hit batter, a single and a balk. Ruth then came up with a sacrifice fly to center field to push the San Diego lead to 2-0. The Longhorns’ offense, meanwhile, was kept in check by Butler in the fifth and Matusz in both the sixth and seventh. In the bottom of the seventh, San Diego loaded the bases with two outs on two singles and a hit batter before an infield single deep in the hole at shortstop off the bat of Daniel Magness yielded two more scores and a 4-0 USD lead. Another big day for USD as they blanked Texas 6-0. I am planning to go to tomorrows game as well. The pitching for USD so far has been fantastic.
