Kris Bryant did ok there...just saying.

Son got a little attention from USD during recruiting. During our visit, I was tickled by the outfield distance sign on the dorm behind right center field where Kris Bryant apparently hit one of his monster homeruns. IIRC it's like 536 or something preposterous (but believable for him) like that!

Went to the Sunday game(s) (they finished the suspended Friday game and played the 3rd game of the series) and was a little surprised by what I saw. I don't follow Vanderbilt baseball because frankly we aren't looking SEC and we definitely aren't looking at Vanderbilt:

1. Vanderbilt played a majority of Freshman pitchers and only had two upperclassmen (read Junior/Senior) who played significant defensive innings. The rest were Frosh/Soph. They only have 2 seniors on the squad. So I guess the takeaway there is if you end up at a program that has a high rate of Jrs getting drafted you will likely have a good shot at getting innings as a frosh/soph.

2. Vandy's pitching was dominant. The rolled out one 6'5" pitcher after another. We left in the 9th inning when they brought in Ruppenthal, saw him throw a few pitches though and he was throwing GAAASSSS! Didn't see a gun on his throws, my quess was 96-98mph from where I was standing. Gas. The young Vandy freshmen pitchers all looked very good.

3. Jeran Kendall = Legit All American. Ro Coleman = Fan Favorite You Cannot Help But Root For.

3. USD on the whole should be commended for having a playable field and getting all three games in this weekend. I was surprised they did.
