Thanks and on another note, I can't believe there is such a lack of coverage of our USA national team in CUBA. 5 & 0 and on a roll.
Day off today and then the Qtrs.

Doc,

How are Rog and Preston doing? I have heard Arrietta is tearing it up. By the way.....I heard some news about PC and the elbow. Please tell me it's not true. PM me if you get time and let me know.
I also agree with Swing... but IMO i think the problem some may have with select is that you spend $$$$$$ and every summer you see kids out there on the field and wonder how the heck is he playing there or whatever, but then you remember oh... the coach is giving private lessons to him or her. I as well as alot of others see this again and again. in a nut shell. what I dislike about select is that some kids are taking others positions and play time because mom & dad are making the coaches pockets fuller .
I am almost positive that in any of the top organizations (I think I can speak for all) that none of that goes on. I have never witnessed someone getting playing time because they have private lessons with the coach. Parents may tell themselves that, but I highly doubt it happens with the Tigers, DBAT, Mustangs, Marshalls, etc.

I totally agree. I have coached and done many a lesson for kids I've coached and have never equated the two into playing time for any player.
I definitely agree with dtiger and OP. The good organizations don't do that, otherwise they would lose players. However, there may be some select teams at other levels who do this in order to try and build their programs. If you ever come across a situation like that, talk to the coaches, if not satisfied, better find another team.

I can tell you DBAT does not play kids simply because they are getting lessons from a DBAT coach. Now, on the flip side, some of them might be better hitters or pitchers BECAUSE of those lessons!

I know there a lot of good hitters that play on other select teams that take hitting lessons from DBAT's Chris Edelstein. I keep asking Chris to cancel any lessons with those kids for the week prior to playing us....he never does. Smile
