Wife and I just returned last night from Knoxville(650 miles-9.5 hour drive) after dropping
our son off at U of Tennessee. He's a sophomore transfer. Much of our discussion on the way
home was of the wonderful people we met who worked at the University and made us feel very
welcome even though we were those "nasty" Smile Floridians. I've read on this forum and others
about some negativity towards recruiting out of state players and I certainly can understand
the reasoning behind it, however I would just like to say that Tennesseans are "OK" in my
book. Even the people in the restaurants, stores, and hotels are all first class.

We feel very fortunate to have our son around such fine people and almost forgot what Southern
Hospitality was all about.

Maybe I'll get to meet a few of the posters who attend the games this year.

Any hints or suggestions you all may have for my son would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Oh, Yea, Son-Ty Pryor, Sophomore pitcher, transfer from USF/Tampa

Moc - Congratulations to your son and best wishes for a great year. I just thought I would add my two cents here - TN folks are great. My JUCO son is interested in several 4 years schools, but my fingers are crossed for one of several in TN. Love the folks there! I'll have to check UK's schedule and if they play up here, maybe I'll have a chance to meet your son. Good luck to him!
Jeff,
I'm embarrassed when I read you post because it hit me that you sent me a PM asking some questions about the TN program. Let me explain that I did write a reply in word like I normally do so I can catch my spelling mistakes before doing the copy and paste. About that time, the wife came in and said it was time to go. I don't remember where I needed to take her, but when she speaks I usually listen. pull_hair

What I'm getting to is I forgot to go back and paste the reply to your PM, because in my mind I remembered writing the answer. Please accept my apology. rolleyes

Now.... Congratulations to you son on his new college choice. I wish him the very best and hope to see him play for the Vols. I'll buy you a hotdog and a coke when you come to town. clap
Thanks for your replies. We're looking forward to this year even though it's not going to be as convenient as Tampa(78 miles). We haven't been able to see a schedule yet so not
sure what games we'll be able to make and we also have a freshman son, Tucker at U. of
North Florida in Jacksonville, so we'll have to do some creative planning. Just got off the phone with him found out that they just added the "other" UT to their schedule. Wink

HVOL-No problem, I know how the wife thing works. Was just looking for a little inside
info about the program, but I think Ty had already made up his mind. He called tonight and said he's already worked out with Adkins and JP Arencibia and a few others-they have to run 2 miles in 14 minutes before they get their "Xmas" package. He wanted a more
disciplined program and I think he got his wish-hope so.

Will update you all down the road if you're interested.
OUCH...Fungo, Ole Buddy aire you hittin' below the belt... biglaugh

Mock,
Folks around Nocksville are always very receptive to Floridians and Californians. They have seen many of them in the past... Wink Moreso, than Memphisians, Jacksonians or Nashvillians..

Best of luck to you and your son at UT, BUT DO NOT under any circumstances be seen around HiwauseeVOL (really HiwasseeCommador). He will ruin any chances for you to gain favor at UT. He can also out-fumble you at the cash register of any major dining facility in Nocksville...ask the Grand Pooh-Bah.. Smile
