My son will be looking at schools in Virginia. Anyone have any insight regarding the baseball programs at any of the following schools?
Randolph Macon
Emory and Henry
Hampden Sydney
Roanoke College

Emory and Henry is a local college. Many people who graduate here in Lebanon go there. Good academic school but has a pretty poor baseball squad.
Randolph Macon currently has a very good baseball team, believe they were one of the top teams in the ODAC conference.
Hampden Sydney wasn't as successful last year, seems like a pitcher has a better chance to play for the Tigers. I believe they have had a turnover with the assistant coaches the last 2 years. My son attended the fall camp last year and came away impressed with the academics but not with the baseball. Also seemed to have a huge turnout of walkons for the fall tryouts, we counted 42 players in total.
Emory and Henry as lebanonbb stated is in bad shape, 7 and 30 something last year. But that may be an opportunity to play early.

RMC has a program on the rise, having won the ODAC last spring. Coach Hedrick, my second favorite head coach next to my son's coach at CNU, is a wonderful baseball guy and his genuine enthusiasm makes him a great recruiter. The facilities haven't caught up with the program, but a new stadium is supposedly in the works in 2-3 seasons.
Hampden-Sydney is in the ODAC title hunt year in, year out. Well-respected coach, pretty good field, no real stadium around it. Coach Kinney to an outsider seems like a pretty good coach.
Roanoke and Emory & Henry aren't in the same league baseball-wise with the other two, both normally losing far more than they win.
If you're looking at Virginia D-III's , others to consider: Christopher Newport in Newport News-one of the nicest baseball stadiums in the state, traditionally strong program that won the USA South last spring, great campus, strong school support. Lynchburg is very strong in the ODAC, won a bid to NCAA tournament last spring. Both CNU and Lynchburg are successful well-coached squads and the players seem to be having fun as they succeed.
Bridgewater and VWC also normally field strong teams as well and have had their share of post-season success.
Their are parents on this board well-familiar with almost all of these schools, and many have sons currently playing so if you have specific questions, this is a good place to ask. Feel free to PM me.

You might want to check out University of Mary Washington as well. Excellent facility, very high academics, in state tuition. Probably the best combination of those three elements in Virginia.
