VaPreps is a great website.... I completely understand why you charge a fee for information such as facts, stats, standings, etc., however.....
I Just feel all "Rankings" should be FREE.....afterall, Rankings are a matter of opinion !

Gator804, i must agree, but i have paid for and get paid for opinions, but in this case we could come up with our own top ten that means just as much, it seems that a FREE VA Preps top ten with a open forum would provide the discussion point for all of us, not to mention the needed publicity that VaPreps is after.

You could come up with your own poll, but I highly doubt it would be based on as much information as the one VAPreps puts out. They get their info from many sources around the state that see hundreds of teams/games, not just the games "little Billy" plays in and they do a very nice job with it. Do they have everything 100% correct all the time? Of course not, but all in all they are very informative.
Running a "service" like VAPreps, Perfect Game, etc. takes time a money. The fees they charge are more than worth the information we get...IMHO
Plus, VAPreps does give us the polls and other "lists" for free and this is the forum to discuss it, if one doesn't subscribe to Preps...
That said, I love reading individual's polls...have at it!

Please provide a full job description. I want to see what part of it I think you should give me for free. And remember, the fact that you might think that what you do has value is not to be considered.

Another way to look at this...I want my newspapers, cable and internet for free...while we are at it, I am going to ask my doctor for opinions on the state of my health for free...
It seems that you have missed Ply2wins point, no matter what leg work Vapreps puts into their opinion it is still an opinion and your conclusion that it is a "nice job" is an opinion and being 100% correct or otherwise is an opinion, which might not be considered correct even by the person given it, and of course this is just my opinion... Lets have some Free VApreps opinions.

Sheesh...this all started because VAPreps DOES give the polls and other "lists" for FREE...and they are opinions, but opinions based on much more info than most Daddy and Mommys have available...
Heck, outside of just posting scores this entire site is based on opinions! That is why I read it and from time to time offer my own...

Agree with others...drive traffic to your sight by making the ranking free.
If people want the details behind the ranking and want to understand why their team is ranked in a certain spot or not ranked at all, then theu can pay.

My point is.....I know of no other Media source that charges a fee for Rankings !!
I'm just simply saying that VaPreps might consider offering their Rankings (statewide and local) for free every week !! It would certainly be a hot topic on this forum ! And would ultimately create a BUZZ for VaPreps.
And by the way.........this is just my OPINION !! And I'm not charging for it !!!!!!!!!

I'm not making a personal attack, just trying to make a point.
This is what the guy does for a living. If he doesn't charge for it, then he won't be able to do it at all. And, he's not just posting his personal opinion. He has a network of people who feed him input and then he digests it, something that is essential to any attempt to compare teams from different areas when they never play each other.
There are many rankings out there that are not offered except with charge. I don't get the regional rankings in my newspaper without a subscription. Sure, I could get it on line, but only if I endure the pop-up ads (which is how they get me to pay indirectly there). PG's rankings on their site and Baseball America's rankings are also subscription-only, I believe.

Its is a service made available to the market...If you do not think it is worth paying for then what worth does it have for anything?

I would ask the Central VA Coaches for that...not sure if they charge or not...
