Since I last wrote asking about va tech, my son has committed there. I am thrilled. they were patient, honest and never wavered and showed that they really wanted him there and in the end thats what sold him. Doesnt hurt thats its a great school. Coach hughes sounds as if he is committed to winning. doesnt seem like its a baseball factory and they dont seem to over recruit, which is something we encountered alot with some of the bigger schools. We are going there on an official visit this weekend so you can pm me if you want ton know anything specific. Go Hokies!

PS If you look at the kids that have gone there in the past and how they were ranked when they came in,and where they were when they left, shows that they are doing something right there. just my opinion.
You should check your pm's

The indoor facilites are pretty good from the weight room, training room, indoor track/practice facility, indoor batting cages (5 lanes I think with nets that can be lifted to almost have a full sized infield). For the two years my son was there the baseball field was unavaible for a week one year due to snow. http://www.usclimatedata.com/c...hp?location=USVA0068
Regarding climate:

We took our older son (non-player) for a visit April 1 and attended the UVA/Tech baseball game that afternoon. It flurried 4 times while we were there.

From my observation: Baseball stands were great, bathrooms warm, and the game was free. (Sadly, UVA blew them away that game).

My spouse liked VT so much he stayed 5 years! (Architecture) Son is applying early decision.

Funny, folks in New England think Blacksburg IS in the south!

Congratulations and welcome to the ACC!
Many years ago son was there for a series (CU vs. VT) and it snowed and they had to suspend the game. The next day when he pitched (in the teens), it was one of the best games he had all year!
Wow! thks to all for the congrats! the trip went very well as it confirmed that he made the right choice. Hughes is a tough, stern, approachable, coach who demands and gives alot.(just my two day observation) Good bunch of kids which shows the recruiting philosophy, they should be a team to reckon with within the coming years IMO.
great facilities, everything you need to be a better baseball player is there.
