Valdosta has the winningest coach in DII. Coach Thomas has won over 1200 games. They play in the Gulf South conference. They won't recruit a high school player unless they think he can play a lot as a freshman. If not they will recommend going to JUCO and they will follow. The stadium is nice, probaby a little above dII average. The coaches are some of the nicest you will ever meet anywhere. Students seem to enjoy the school very much. They are a top DII program.
As stated above they still play in the Gulf South Conference, one the best DII conferences in the nation. Last year they were in the middle of the conference pack with a 14-9 conference record and were 27-19 overall. They have a good team that could definitely hit. They play in conference with the likes of West Florida, Delta State, Northern Alabama, and other solid teams. I don't know anything about their coaching staff, though, sorry. You will get good competitive baseball there, that's for sure.

VSU’s Todd Guilliams authors a book

VALDOSTA — Todd Guilliams, assistant baseball coach at Valdosta State, recently joined the ranks of published authors with his new book High-Scoring Baseball: The Complete Guide to Run Production.

Guilliams, in his sixth season as assistant coach with the VSU baseball program, serves as the team's hitting coach and tutors the squad's catchers while also overseeing the team's academic efforts.

Highly involved in recruiting, Guilliams still found time to write a book on offensive baseball.

High-Scoring Baseball is described as the definitive guide for establishing an aggressive, opportunistic and disciplined offense. Coaches, prospective coaches, players and more can find detailed coverage of the four offensive team goals and the six ways to create offensive pressure that gives every team a chance to be high scorers.

In addition to describing how a team can push scores higher and higher, Guilliams also proved ways to execute in-depth analysis of run production. Readers can discover the most common predictors for achieving a big inning, the importance of getting the lead-off hitter on base and collecting free bases. Coaches can also use the book to help identify the most effective strategies based on specific game situations as well as the proper mental approach and physical adjustments to execute in those specific situations.

Fans should trust Guilliams' words as he has put together one of the most prolific offenses in VSU history.

The Blazers broke the school-record for batting average in 2010 with a .351 mark and led the nation with 113 home runs in 2009, ranking fourth in NCAA Division II history and setting a Valdosta State record. The team also finished eighth nationally with 578 runs scored in 2009.

Guilliams book has been supported by Vanderbilt Head Coach Tim Corbin, Georgia Tech Head Coach Danny Hall as well as Mississippi State Head Coach John Cohen. The trio of coaches describe Guilliams as one of the most innovative coaches in college baseball today, one of the greatest baseball minds in the country and a coach with expert knowledge of the game.
