This breaks my heart and I feel a terrible sadness for his family.

Of course when things like this happen we tend to wonder why a person that seemed to have everything going for him would want to end his life.

JMO, but could this be a reminder what we as parents think makes our sons/daughters (and us) happy really doesn't work for everyone.

No, what I was stating might be that we often assume that because individuals are talented and successful in what they do that happiness is a given.

Of course we don't know the entire circumstances.

Sometimes things aren't as they appear behind the smiles and the white picket fences. Unfortunately, for some reason this boy felt this was the avenue to peace. May he rest in peace.
What a terrible loss. While we do not know the cause - take this as an opportunity to talk to your highly competitive sons about the ability to enjoy whatever life gives them and the support and love that is waiting for them regardless of the problems they feel like they must confront.

My prayers go out to the family - I cannot imagine the grief associated with the loss of a child.
