In news that will rock the collegiate baseball world, Vassar Coach Righter just announced to his team that he's leaving for Stevenson University effective 8/28. No word yet on what Vassar does next.

Wow, with 3 boys playing baseball you've seen a lot, but I think you had not experienced this - so sorry, I hope it all works out.
It would be logical to think that. However, my oldest son's coach at Amherst, Brian Hamm, left unexpectedly, in June, after taking son's team to regionals his frosh year, and went to Eastern Connecticut. Two years later Hamm won the D3 World Series, and a week after that was announced as the new head coach at Yale.
And, it happened to me, as well, after my freshman year (mid seventies) in college. We had the best record the team had had in 20 years. Our coach used that to springboard from Whitman to Davidson. So I'm kind of used to it. 
This is obvious, but coaches build off successful years--this was Vassar's most successful year in program history-- and make the changes they want to make.
Hopefully "C" and his new coach can build off the programs success. You're right, this is the baseball coaches career path. Do well, and move on to the next challenge. Tough gig that makes it difficult to put down roots.
We hope your family is doing well, and we've been thinking and praying for all the folks in Hawaii. Unbelievable tragedy.
