Video Question

Here's a suggestion from a recruiting site on making pitcher's videos:

"Begin recording these pitches after a complete warm up.  If you can be clocked and the velocity is shown on a radar gun in the video, that is an easy way for coaches to verify a velocity, but this is not necessary for filming.  Coaches should be able to see the catcher actually catch the ball at all times.  Setup a camera angle 3 ft. behind the right-handed batters box for a RHP and 3 ft. behind the left-handed batters box for LHP.

"Film sequences of 6 pitches out of the windup, demonstrating 2 fastballs, 2 breaking balls and 2 off-speed pitches

•  Log your 2 best unedited sequences that demonstrate all of your pitches

"Film sequences of 6 pitches out of the stretch, demonstrating 2 fastballs, 2 breaking balls and 2 off-speed pitches

•  Log your 2 best unedited sequences that demonstrate all of your pitches

"*If the angle behind the catcher is not available, then an angle behind the pitcher is possible to film (details below)

"Side Angle: With camera on the 3rd base side for RHP and the 1st base side for a LHP, 5 ft. from the mound, focusing solely on mechanics and not the pitch.

• Film 3 fastballs out of the windup
• Film 3 fastballs out of the stretch
• Log your best 2 pitches in one unedited sequence out of the windup
• Log your best 2 pitches in one unedited sequence out of the stretch"

I would also personally add, do not make this a Hollywood production with sound effects and creative editing.  Start it with a simple shot of your son's name, graduation class, height, weight, e-mail address, and contact phone number.  Then move to the skills portion.  Then finish with the same shot of the opening information.

Bullpen

1.  All pitches from side angle

2.  All pitches from behind catcher

Live Game

1.  Unedited from the side (1 batter)

2.  Unedited from behind home plate (1 batter)

I also include a link to their Field Level account and the our team youtube page if they want to see longer footage.

I am going through this right now with my LHP, and the coaches want a 1st Base side view - in Game Action of just the pitcher.  (3rd Base Side I would assume for a righty.) Focused in as much as you can to include the pitcher's whole movements and stride.  Coincidentally, I don't have it, and I need it ASAP.  Good thing Ryno is on the hill tomorrow evening.
