Things have gone great IMO. The Ole Miss series was a disappointment, but the games were close and there's gotta be a winner and loser.

The worst moments have been the injuries to Hochevar and watching Tennessean Josh Bell dismantle the Vols in the Auburn series.

If they've really turned the corner it will hopefully show this weekend vs. LSU. The Vols have historically been taken to the woodshed against the Bengals, home and away.

My impression of the season will be influenced by what happens this weekend.
Clay Dirks did well on the mound for LSU. He got no help with the tigers making 5 errors while I was watching. The SS was credited with 3 of those errors but it really should have only been 2. The last error was a ball that came up on him at the last second.

How is Derek Tharpe's arm doing? It seems as the pitching injury bug has hit the pitching staff again.

The Tennessee catcher being tossed out of the Sat. evening game did not help the situation for the Vols and may have cost them the game. He's a good kid that allowed his emotions to get the best of him. But hey, old Rod got a quick exit of Fri. and the players are a direct reflection and follow the actions of their coach.

How long has it been since the Vols won a series over a top 10 team? Maybe the players can get by LSU on Sunday.

I was about to drag my old body to bed when I decided to give the message board a look and saw your post.

First - you started this thread by asking opinions about the Tennessee - LSU series. I gave you my opinion.

Second - Show me where I've criticized any of the players or their work ethic. I know a couple of the guys second-hand and have the utmost respect for them.

Third - If you'll read through this message board you'll see that I've generally been a "sheep" for the Vols. I'll admit I've been critical of the program from time to time, and get caught up in the "Ray-Bans" thing, but I've continued to support the team and attend games when I can. I can't think of a single instance where I've been critical of a player.

Fourth - Is it wrong for me to express some disappointed at getting waxed by LSU again? I get disappointed when my Braves get beat. I get disappointed when my son's high school team plays sloppy and loses. That doesn't mean I don't support them.

Fifth - LSU has been like Florida was in football or Kentucky in basketball. We just can't seem to get over the hump.

Sixth - You've never read a single post from me where I've advocated any kind of coaching change. Have I been critical of the coach's recruiting? Yes. But that's only because I want to see this program and these players succeed.

Seventh - I appreciate your passion for the Vols. They need more like you.

I'm going to bed now.

Keith56,

I have been critical of the program and old "Ray Bans" for quite some time. The players try hard but they don't get enough help and there are major problems with the program, but none that cannot be fixed with a coaching change. If going to the SEC tournament 1 time every 5 or 6 years is good then hey I am wrong but I don't think so. Look at the number of arm injuries they have had over the last 10 years to their pitchers. When was the last time they won a series from a top 10 program? All of these things are problems and I have not even started on the fact that the University of Tennessee cannot/will not sign the top players in the State of Tennnessee. Those same players that are not being signed (some of them were not even recruited by the Vols) are returning the Knoxville and defeating the flagship state university in Tennessee. Now before you run your mouth again slow down and ask yourself one queston. Would the University of Tennessee make a change if the football, mens basketball, or womens basketball teams were headed down the same path of the baseball team?
