Well dangit! My beloved Cardinals appear to be heading into the season without Adam Wainwright who has suffered a "significant" elbow injury. You would think this could aslo affect the Pujols situation if he were to miss all of 2011 and part of 2012 recovering from TJ surgery.

Cards may need Albert's $30 million a year to address starting pitching needs it seems. Shelby Miller is still a couple years away you would think?

Regarding Shelby Miller.....

It appears your assumption is right.

Baseball America's 100 Prospects Chat:

quote:
Jimmy (SC): How does Shelby Miller profile as a starter? Does his date of arrival move up if Wainwirght goes down for the year?

Jim Callis: He's a potential No. 1 starter. That said, he's just 20 and hasn't pitched above low Class A, so I don't think there's any way he's ready before the end of 2012. You won't see him in St. Louis this year.
This is no secret, everyone knew end of last year he had elbow issues.

Strong possibility that is why they didn't give in to Albert's demands, they knew this was coming.

I am sure that is why they took on Batista and Snell in the off season.

They have a few possibilities Wink but TLR doesn't like his players "green".
