Washington & Jefferson's head coach, Jeff Mountain, was an assistant coach at John Carroll University when my son played there his freshman year. My son had nothing but good things to say about him. Here is an excerpt from the W&J website on Jeff's success since taking the helm there:

"Jeff Mountain, the thirty-sixth head baseball coach in the history of Washington & Jefferson College, enters his third season in 2005.

In 2004, Mountain led the Presidents to one of the most dramatic turnarounds in recent NCAA Division III baseball history as W&J claimed the Presidents' Athletic Conference Championship and posted an overall record of 21-16.

The 2004 season marked just the third time in school history that W&J baseball eclipsed the 20-victory plateau. Mountain's career record now stands at 27-42. In the three years prior to his arrival, W&J had won just 15 total games."
My son played for W&J last year. Excellent program, and excellent school. Very high academics..........read this as a "tough school"......very good academically. To be recruited you have to be able to play and you have to have the grades......no exceptions.

Excellent facilities, brand new field with all field turf. They will give aid, but remember this is a 30K+ per year private school.

My son has transferred for this year, but I have nothing but good things to say about the program.
I don't know alot about this school but any school can be challenging anywhere without the effort. Your grades are fine but if you can get in with that GPA and SAT score (I'm assuming the 1570 is the total on all 3 parts of the SAT...by the way most schools are only looking at Math and Verbal for 2006) the school won't be the most challenging out there. You would not be able to get into some of the truly challenging VA schools such as UVA and William and Mary or a few others.
TRhit....you mentioned "W&L" in your above post. Did you mean Washington & Lee...or was that just a typo and you were actually referring to "W&J", Washington & Jefferson? If you actually did mean W&L I think your assessment of what is needed to get in academically is probably correct. However, my daughter looked at W&J last year, and I think a 3.1 would be good enough to get in. In all honesty tho...not sure how the "new" 3-part SAT scores correlate to the old SAT scores as far as what is "good enough" to get into schools.
