A very unusual move by a manager, not sure what you think, and not sure if this is a rule or not- my guess is that it is a rule-

Bottom of the 1st, the home team is batting, the manager of the home team sends his starting pitcher back to the bull pen to throw some more warm up pitches while they have scored four runs in a long bottom of the first.

First question- is this legal? A pitcher is regulated to how many warm up pitches they get. This question is for mlb/ obr rules please...

I've been doing that for years and never been called for it - so I doubt it's a rule. Good coaching IMO because you had the advantage of scoring first so why send out a guy who might have gotten cold again and possibly struggle and let the other team back in the game.

Tell your guy treat the extra bullpen as a very short first inning.

Pretty much use this during the cold part of the season.
No rule against it in OBR. He is only limited to how many he throws when it is his turn on the mound. If he continues or delays the game while coming from the bullpen, then he is taking up his warmup time.

But, if he doesn't use up more time than he is allowed to do normal warmups, then he is fine. He can throw as many as he wants. Just don't delay the inning start.
