...or bad kharma?

Son's high school is playing in the Southeastern Baseball Classic spring break tournament this week in Hartsville, SC. Son (RHP, 1B) had the opportunity to meet and talk with Tommy John last night...hmmmmmm, should he have shook his hand? Maybe kept his distance???

OK...before anyone flames me...I'm kidding around...he was thrilled to meet him and they had a nice conversation.

We defeated two-time tournament winners Paul VI Panthers(VA) yesterday 2-1...got North Stafford Wolverines(VA) today. Son's on the bump.

I'm so jealous!!!!!

When I was a teeny-bopper of 12, most of my friends were in love with Sajid Khan(!), Davy Jones, and Bobby Sherman, etc..... Nope, not me. I was in "love" with Tommy John. He was on the White Sox at the time and I had the biggest crush on him....it was really ridiculous. Posters of a baseball player --no, not just A baseball player but THAT baseball player hung up all over my room. My sister who shared the room with me did not like it one bit. The boys in my class teased me like crazy but I knew more than they did about not only him, but the other White Sox players.

My brother found his book "Tommy John, My 26 Years in the Majors" about 10 years ago in the bargain section of a small bookstore and bought it for me--he said he paid 50 cents for it, but I don't believe him, I'm sure he was teasing me as usual because to me the book was priceless....And I read it more closely than I did any book for school, actually highlighting *the important parts*--practically the whole book!

So it was with irony that my son had the surgery that was named after the *love* of my life......

I would give anything to meet him! I'm so jealous!
