I'll bet there is someone out there who can provide much better information, but can offer a few insights based on W&L's interest in my son, his discussions with the coaches, a visit, etc. (He eventually ended up committing to another school.)
Excellent academics -- very difficult to be admitted. We never got into the specifics of what GPA/SAT test scores the coaches were looking for, but they told a friend of my son that even athletes at W&L are expected to be in the 1,300 SAT range. In addition, the coaches claim that they have absolutely no pull with the admissions office.
Son was very impressed with Coach Stickley. Think the team is very competitive in the ODAC. This year's pre-season coaches' poll places them 5th out of 10 teams.
Beautiful campus. Small school environment. My understanding is that the student body is politically conservative and socially formal, e.g., guys wear coats and ties to football games. Frats are popular.
Again, hope there is someone out there who can provide better first-hand info.
