My son attends WASH U and loves the school. The UAA is very competitive nationally in all sports (Emery made the D3 finals in baseball last year and recruits baseball players aggressively). So even though its a top academic school, its a bit like Stanford in that school believes in and takes pride in its athletic programs. They had multiple D3 national champions in many sports last year, and finished second in the Director's Cup for best overall D3 athletic program. All the coaches are good, and they have top flight facilities, trainers, etc. The only issue there for baseball is weather--many early season games got rained out.
Wash U is an excellent school, beautiful campus, and they have an incredible athletic program in almost every sport. They support athletes very well.

The baseball coach has a good reputation for "teaching" the game. He coached at JUCO level for 20+ years (Meramec in suburban St. Louis) and was very successful. My son (2009) played against a few players who will be Freshmen this fall.

A real good DIII program, and a diploma from Wash U is a big deal.
A great school!!

Baseball was down this year (See University Athletic Association website for tournament results).

Basically a good baseball program, but the coach can be a bit quirky. Doesn't yell or scream, but sometimes can embarass players on the field during a game. NO, it's not O.K. You discipline or teach off the field or during practices!!!!! Coach knows the game.

Son played against Wash. U. the last two seasons in Florida in March. His school is in UAA as well. Son has ex-travel team teammate who is catcher/DH on team, Vom Brack. Great kid!! Lost his father this past spring to pancreatic cancer.

Remember, go where you stand a good chance of playing your freshman year. If you don't play, what a great name to have on your resume, Washington University - St. Louis, Missouri.
