hi, all the pre-high school parents. Please when you develope your kids, don't just focus on his body. Make sure he is a "Natural". I don't believe talent can be teached. Some kids at 10 yrs old, look like a man child, can tee off the slow picth like crazy. But he won't catch a little bit above average fastball in his age group. Because of he is competing in a weak league and he got a big body, he become the star in his team. I would say wait till other kids catches up the body growth with him. He maybe just a wasted lumber like most of the players in the minor leagues. Look at those kids played in the minors, 6'2''-6'3'',210-230lb, but they never make to the majors, because they just don't have the natural ability to hit. They can't hit anything throw at them. The .300 batting average in the minors is disgusting. Don't ever let your kid play in the minor as a bottom feeder if he does not have the talent. That's called the wasted Lumber.

He will not be the satr anymore, a lot more talented kid with the same size of body will push him to the bench. I pick players with talent not just size. The difference between a Major leaguer and a Minor leaguer is the talent and talent only.
Most minor leaguers are wasting their time to fullfill a pipe dream.

You are right, I am just surprised to see a lot of perfect baseball body play like .... I can't understand it. When I took a close look at them, I found out they just don't have the talent. Maybe they don't have the Brain power to quick process whether it is a 95 Mile/H fastball or 80 Mile/h curveball throw at them, then to get in a ready position to hit. Hand and Eye coordinate is easy to say than done. But nobody even bother to tell them that "with this kind of Brain, you will not make to the majors. " Instead they teach them to increase Bat speed. Well, Bat-speed can be increased by strength training. But coordinate your eyes to your hands won't be trained easily. The brain is like the CPU in the computer, if you only got a 286 model in there, how can you catch up the one with the Pentium Dual-Core CPU. Nobody told the truth to them since they were kids.

TRHit: well, what ever you say. I will just give my thought on the topic of my own interest.
When I was a Kid, I went to a science show. There is a machine to test people's reaction time. It's like a very old fashioned video car game. It works this way. When you see green light, you use your feet hit the gas paddle and hold on it, and when it changes to red light, you hit the break paddle. I scored the highest score possible. It called something like "Supper fast reaction" while others only scored "average" or "good." I was very proud of myself. Although it's like testing the feet and eye coordination, I think it is much more harder compare to the hand and eye coordination. So I want someone to design a machine, which can test baseball players hand and eye coordination combine with the strength and accuracy of their hitting. Thus future minor league player will know if they are major league bound before they commit all their life into it. I hate to brag, but my son inherent my fast reaction brain power and he is an athelet. He will be a great player in four years. Believe it or not, I will tell you the result in the year 2011. No more bragging for me from now on. I don't want talk to you "going pro" thread people anymore. So I come to the "pre-high school" thread here. Because I still have four years to enjoy my son's high school time. I don't want talk to you "internet bully" until 2011.

Thanks, you are the first friend I made here. I will let you know first when my son is ready to be drafted. Very nice to talk to you, take care.

Stardad, I think you need to realize that getting drafted is never guaranteed. Your son making his high school baseball team isn't guaranteed. There are many, many, talented kids out there please don't let your ignorance blind you. With that being said, I do wish your son good luck and a successful season.

Well, to be very honest with you. If they can find 9 kids in my son's age group out of our class 5A HS are better than my son, I will let him quit playing baseball rightnow. In my eyes, there are a lot of "disabled" people playing baseball at HS level. I think most coaches feel the same way. Find me a talented all around player you really love, coaches?
STARGAZER

You sure are trying hard to convince us as to how "good" your son is

Let him prove his talent at the HS level not LL

Also you won't know when your son is ready to be drafted---the MLB Scouts will and if you keep talking like you do they won't even bother to introduce themselves to you nor will any coach
Stardad - here is something that unfortunately - you seem not to understand. And it is the heart of the game itself.

Real players play the game because they love the game.

Not for trophies - not for newspaper articles - and certainly not for the approval of some idle fan talking trash.

They play the game because they love playing.

That - ultimately - is what defines a real baseball player.
This is amusing. The dad of a kid who hasn't played a day of high school varsity baseball has him pegged as a future major leaguer. Is this possible? It is (Delmon Young at the same age). There are a handful. But the entire baseball world knows who these players are. So who is this stud from Missouri everyone is talking about?

I have a talented son who's a freshman in high school. He's very good for his age. Age doesn't matter anymore. He's in high school. It's now an 18U world even if he's fourteen. He wants to play college ball. I tell him to make the high school team first.

Without giving a name, one college coach gave an example of a kid he chose not recruit; had nothing to do with the kid who was quite talented, but had everything to do with the overbearing parent.

TRhit: Nice post! But you realy don't know about the sports' agent. They are sharks, when they smell blood (Talent), they will probably piling in front of my door. No gold can be buried in the sand for long, there's always time for them to shine! Especially in this information wolrd.
