I had to comment here. At football games I did see cars with the word slumming when they would come to mesquite and play. and they would chant cash beats trash. But thats all kids. I talked to a lot of their parents and they were actually embarrassed by it. Really great people in good ole HP. Its all in fun really.

Kids what are ya gonna do with 'em.
I have been a student at Highland Park since kindergarten and have also been going to HP football, basketball, baseball games etc.. since then. I'm backing up TJ on this one and say that I have never seen a white trash bag at a sports event. It amazes me to see the things people will make up to make Highland Park look bad. Next time you see a white trash bag take a picture and post it on here for us please.

I've never seen this before, but I would laugh hysterically if I did

Dillon--that's what we're being told.

I understand the Tuesday start is just what everyone agreed to. I'm not going to speculate on who wanted what and why because it would be just that...speculation. It is what it is.

Should be a good series.

HP must be pretty confident. Wax will win or lose on their ace pitcher, so a tuesday start is what they needed.

From a HP standpoint I like that agreed to that.
Sorry...just got back from the hardware store. Had to pick up some more white trash bags.....

I think HP will have their hands full with Wax. They are a quality team. First Frisco. Then TxHigh. Then North. Now Wax. Doesn't get any easier as you progress does it P1? Oh yeah. You're not playing this week. (Sorry. Couldn't help myself--congrats on a good season nonetheless).

Re scheduling: I understand that Wax would only agree to a three game series if it was scheduled this way. I wasn't there and don't know why folks did or didn't agree to it. All I know is that they play tonight.

Now leave me alone as I've got to go figure out what to do with 3 dozen white trash bags that now I apparently can't bring to sporting events.
I can tell you HP is the real deal. They played perfect baseball and got the breaks (aggainst Texas HIgh SChool) to beat jr (LHP) Josh Turley. jr (LHP) Slade Heathcott had them beat until a coach's brain **** and HP's s****** team fought back to win. I can tell you that if you beat Turley and Heathcott, you gotta be pretty dang salty. Errors cost THS, but HP can hit LHP, so tonight we see if they can hit CC.

This was from the DMN website (this kid is like the Terminator).:

Waxahachie pitcher Colton Cain's 12-strikeout performance Tuesday against Highland Park was even more impressive considering he had a 101-degree fever that morning.

Cain had been battling strep throat and received an injection the day before. Cain pitched six innings and allowed just three runs on five hits in the 7-4 win to open the best-of-3 series.

"He's a competitor," coach Tracey Wood said. "I had to fight him to get him out of the last inning."

The teams meet again at 7:30 p.m. Friday in Waxahachie. Because the series started Tuesday, Cain could come back and pitch a Game 3 if necessary Saturday.

Wood said he would "play that by ear" since Tuesday was only Cain's second outing since a month-long layoff because of a sore arm. Cain threw 70 pitches last week to beat Ennis, 17-7.

"We'll find out today [Wednesday] how he is and how he feels," Wood said.

If this is true, and I have no reason to think it's not, then I certainly hope that Cain does NOT pitch again this week. I didn't have a pitch count Tuesday night, but it was a lot!

Does that mean Cain is out of the running for this weeks Mental MVP since he ran up his pitch count??

Just kidding, sorry I couldn't resist. Smile

I have to comment on this topic about the HP students (not parents). I've been a part of two different school districts that my children have attended and witnessed some of the worst sportmanship displayed by the HP students w/ the parents sitting by watching, that has gotten worse over the years. Flashing their credit cards, cash and wallets at the other teams fans was the most recent. "cash beats trash" was chanted at serveral games... I've not seen the trash bags, but the displays of behavior and CHARACTER were very telling about the "classy HP parents". I would challenge the HP parents to step up and do your job as parents. I'm sure not all agree, but when the entire student section pulls out their wallets and flash cash..... Enough said.
At our games, if fans say or do something inappropriate, a school administrator (principal or VP) will approach them and tell them to zip it. The administration is justifiably concerned about how fans' actions or words will harm the school's reputation.

I think the administration's approach has had a very positive impact on the students. This past fall, Reagan was playing Madison H.S. and Madison's star running back, who has signed with Georgia Tech, was injured and broke his ankle. Reagan's fans began chanting his name in a very positive way and cheered wildly when he was taken off the field. Our booster club took collections and made up a huge gift basket for the player and his family. The response of our fans made such an impact that Madison's principal came to our school the following week and made a school-wide announcement thanking the students for their classy words and actions.

These days, many parents unfortunately take a hands-off approach to parenting. If they are not willing to do it, then it's time for the administration to take the lead.

I understand what your saying, but do you really expect a parent (at any school for that matter) to get up and go hold there 18 year old childs hand. Its getting to the point where kids are old enough to make their own decisions and if they make a poor one then the kid should be held accountable not the parent.

Yep, I sure do. I expect parents and administrators to discipline high schoolers if necessary.

Just because they are capable of making decisions doesn't mean they should be completely turned loose.
