I was able to make it out to this schrimmage that had # 1 in the state in 4a, Calallen, taking on #18 in the state in 5a, W.B. Ray. This game was dominated by the Ray Texans as they pounded the Calallen defending state champions from start to finish. I believe the score was 15 to 4 in about 11 or 12 innings. Calallen did look strong as far as pitching but they have some work to do with their sticks.
Ray looked great as Ray's second baseman, I believe his name is Divas, looked great with the stick. Also Ray's left fielder homered and Ray's shortstop Ken Avila looked like one of the best shortstops that I have seen in a long while. Crain and Avila hit the ball well and Ferdine threw good and kept Calallen off balance. Most of the players for both teams looked good but I think that Calallen is a little over rated at number 1 and Ray is underrated at 18. By the end of the season I am sure both of these teams will have a say in the state playoffs. Also, Hoelsher and Duke for Calallen topped out at about 88 to 89 on the radar that was behind home plate.
