The weakest D1 might be Coppin State. They were 4-52 last year after going 0-44 the year before. They've had two coaches in three years. They have trouble rostering players. They finished with twelve last year. There's a general lack of commitment to athletics at the school. There may be a big problem this year. The season opens the 21st. They have eight on their roster. None are pitchers.

Oh, wow. Guess everyone plays, huh? And hasn't every kid in college ball pitched at one time or another? Time to warm up the arms and enlist someone from girls softball to play..

The softball program only has twelve players (college softball normally has at least twenty/don't need deep pitching staffs like baseball). None on the roster are pitchers. The softball team is 0- 62 over the past two seasons.

Why does Coppin State even offer these sports? If what is said here is true, it makes no sense for them to even field teams in baseball or softball, and it also makes absolutely no sense for any other team to schedule them. Talk about huring your RPI!
They play in a mid level D1 and get beat by the weak teams in their conference by ten runs. No major would want to waste their time playing them.

I'm going to guess there are two reasons baseball and softball haven't played full schedules. They either have to cancel games due to lack of players or other teams won't schedule them.

I checked out all the men's sports and a couple of the women's teams. Every team has a losing record. Most lose all the time. The women's basketball team is the only one playing better than .400.

I remember when Coppin pulled one of the major NCAA basketball tournament upsets as a 15 seed beating South Carolina.
