I am not sure what a 15YO is going to talk, weekly, to a college coach about. Seems odd to me. Bet he does not call Grandpa weekly......

Ha ha ha. Heck, my 15 year old won't even tell my wife and I how school went that day. 
I think they know "most" kids wont call weekly, but the ones that do, those are the exceptions and can probably get ahead of the others. My son (starting sophmore year)was horrible at talking with all but one of the guys recruiting him and that one just so happened to be Columbia.....yeah, the one in Manhattan and my son would have a hard time getting into that school. Have your son call and leave messages about his fall regimen or workouts etc if coahces dont answer and i bet they will still be around and they will remember those voicemails.
My son had several coaches he was asked to call weekly...which was nice then but in hindsight was a hassle. But a good problem...We found (luckily as my son is not the most communicative) that the coaches did most of the talking.
I found that my son wasn't the most talkative at first, but the process of talking to coaches really helped him to become comfortable with it. Great opportunity for growth. I believe this will help our sons immensely later in life.
