Dear Roger,

This forum is both uplifting (no pun intended) and frustrating to me. While it is great to see so many young players looking to improve their athleticism, it is equally frustrating to see some (not all) of the advice being administered by unqualified persons. Not only should you employ an effective program for best results for your time, but you need to guard vs. injury. While the program listed by Dogz07 is an ambitious one, it is not a "functional training" program. It is also vital that you perform movements biomechanically correct. I own a succesful athletic training center here on Long Island. We work primarily with baseball players ages 10 - professional. There is so much to it that you would not believe. Of course, I realize that you are not a potential client given where you live so I do not feel conflicted writing this message. Since we opened up a year ago there have been no fewer than 6 new strength and conditioning centr area that you can go see. Check their qualifications (CSCA is great certification) and ask questions regarding philosophy. Be wary of those that "guarantee" things like increased velocity" for example after three months of workouts etc. If you have trouble locating such feel fre to contact me on my email address. Perhaps there is a way we can help you. My partner is a PhD Physical Therapist with a CSCA certification who played DIvision I baseball in college, other trainers past and present have varied backgrounds including NY Yankees asst S & C coach. Best of Luck in your pursuits.
