It has been awhile for me.  People who knew me because of my son, well he has retired.  I helped him start a business here in the Cleveland area and he loves it because it has so many similarities to baseball.  Namely, he works outside and he loves to interact with the public.

I am kind of getting to re-live my life over again.  I've learned to chill out and enjoy the moment.  My 13 year old grandson is such a blessing.  I see parents stewing and fretting about this thing or that and there is me simply enjoying the moment and watching him play.  I always knew I'd post here again one day because we are a baseball family and I can see the past replaying itself over again in the future.

For those who may remember me from years ago, my greetings to you.  For those who have never met me or interacted via the forums, it is my pleasure to meet you in the future.  God bless each and everyone of you this holiday season, your families, and all who know you.

Great news! Glad you’re back.

Great to see fine hsbbweb contributors from the past and some new ones here as well.  I am sure it is no accident we all poked in here at this time to take a peak.  As long as we have enough food to eat each day, a warm house, our health, family, and friends, we are truly rich.  The baseball stuff will take care of itself.  Let kids play and figure it out themselves.  Encourage them to use their imaginations.  No two were ever created alike.  Encourage them to just be themselves, have fun, and bring their own unique personality and talent to the game.  Everyone has brightened my day here.  Love to hear how everyone's son is doing now after their playing days are perhaps now over.  Baseball has meant everything to me and my son and now my grandson.  I wouldn't trade any of the baseball experience.  Only fond memories remain and they will be cherished and passed down for generations to come.  Merry Christmas indeed Coach May.  Truly blessed for all I've met here and I remember each of you and each of your son's well.

Most of those who have replied are oldtimers; newer posters like me also really appreciate your comments in old threads, and I'm glad you are back, too.  It's the combination of experienced people and newbies that makes hsbbw an amazing site.

Nice of you to say that and welcome!  Your child's greatest gift, all children, is not about ball velocity or bat speed.  Their greatest gift is creativity and imagination.  Encourage them to imagine how much fun they'll have regardless if they are starting as freshmen or what not.  They cannot control a coach's decision or anything else but their own attitude and effort.  Encourage them to imagine how much fun it will be when someone gives them their big opportunity based on earning it and being the best teammate possible.  Cherish them for who they uniquely are and enjoy every moment.  Hindsight has taught me a lot - about mistakes from the past indeed but more importantly, how the possibilities of the moment relieve stress, fear, and doubt.  The gift of the here and now is all that matters.  With a good attitude and determined effort applied mindfully over time, the future will take care of itself beyond any of our wildest imaginations.  I am grateful.  Thank you for your kind words.

Glad to see you post CD. I do not post as much as I used to. Son is still playing in Adult leagues and Plays with a team that goes to the MABL tournaments.

He is giving lessons, and has Moved to Charlotte, NC.

Glad to see Tyler is doing well.

Merry Christmas to you and your family.

Great to hear about your son.  Charlotte is a lovely area.

Now that you mention adult leagues, my son had a plurality of baseball options this past summer and fall.  He chose to play on two different softball teams and I asked him out of curiosity - why not hardball?  Said he will always love hardball but he just wanted to play for simple fun.  Many are ex-high school teammates that he is currently playing with.  Several area high school coaches have contacted him.  Last winter, he was offered the JV head coaching position at an area high school.  Right now, the high school coach where he attended offered him the position of freshmen coach.  He'd like to coach but with his business right now, is reluctant to over-commit himself.  He basically played and trained for baseball year-around for most of his life.  He is now enjoying many of the things that most of us take for granted.  He gives baseball clinics from time to time - mostly at the pleasant urging of his father :-)

I will mention now, he is engaged and we are about to receive our second grandchild in January.  My grandson that I mentioned above is from my oldest son who was a fine player in his own right.  I expect baseball to be part of our family the rest of our lives and as mentioned above, we are truly grateful.

Great news on the engagement. Mine just proposed to his Girl friend recently. The wrestler, and youngest, who is now an Electrical engineer is engaged as well.

Exciting times.

Good for both young men on their respective engagements and your also youngest's chosen profession.  He'll have the most rewarding career.  If he ever needs a referral in the Cleveland area or would like to inquire about someone in the Engineering field, please pass him my name.  Exciting times agreed!
