West 9 Sevier Co. 4

West looked early like they may just go through the motions today after a grueling week. The bats woke up with Hiles hitting a 3 run bomb. Starter Sam Mihalik went 5 innings, no earned runs. Taylor Ross pitched 2 innings of scoreless relief.

Sevier County got on the board after loading the bases with 2 walks and a hit. With two outs the West shortstop flipped the ball to the 2nd baseman for a force and final out. Apparently the 2B took his eye off the ball, bobbled the pitch and the runner was safe. The runner broke for 3rd and the tag was missed. Then SC strung a couple of hits together.

I give credit to Sevier County for competing to the end.

Hiles and Powell had three hits each.

Morristown West at 10 a.m.m Friday.

I'll be in early, and working late, to catch the tourney games. I'm sorry that I won't be able catch other games.
