Westlake has a lot of good school districts around it.
Keller High School - 5A school and perinial playoff team. Coach Stramp is a well respected coach that gets a lot out of his players.
Central High School (within Keller School District)- 4A school that moves to 5A for the first time next year. Will probably struggle the first couple of years as it moves up.
Keller Fossil Ridge - 5A team moving to 4A. Bad baseball program right now.
Northwest High School - Huge area that compromises the NWHS district, from Trophy Club in the East nearly to Decatur in the West. They also will move up to 5A next year in a very tough district.
Southlake Carroll - One of the most repected athletic programs not only in the area, but the State and country. Best football team in the country two years in a row. Top notch academics also. Coach Hughes is either loved or hated by his players and parents, but he does get results. Couple of state championships in the past few years. Get ready to get your checkbook out if you want to live in the SLC district though, as houses aren't cheap.
Colleyville Heritage - Great program with a new coach. Another expensive place to live.
Argyle - small district, great academics, great place to live, have no idea about thier baseball program.
Flower Mound - may not seem that far of a drive, but in traffic could be bad depending on what side of town you live on. They have two HS's...Flower Mound, which I highly recommend, (another perinial playoff team) and Marcus, which I wouldn't until they get another coach.
Grapevine, a great school with a bad coach. I wouldn't send my son to Grapevine, but that's just me.
Be very careful when looking for houses around Keller. A real estate agent may tell you that your son will attend such and such High School. Double check the agent. Call the school to make sure you are in their attendence boundries. Keller High School and others in the area do not take transfers from other High Schools in their school districts...period. They are overflowing and won't allow it. Otherwise, Collikar's son would be playing for Keller instead of Northwest.
As far as pitching coaches, there are plenty around. They just opened a brand new facility in Keller but there are more popping up every day around the area.
As far as fall and summer programs, again, there are plenty around. But be prepared to drive. Most of the quality organizations are on the Dallas side of town. I wouldn't recommend any of the Ft. Worth based organizations except for the FW Cats. But again, that's just personal preference.
