Well heres kinda of a common theme from me. Weekend before last I saw my son take the plate for his first college game. We had a double header on Saturday and my son played game two (the 9 inning game) Catcher that started the first game is a great guy , a senior who crushes the ball and oh yes is 26. I did not actually beleive he was 26 until he told me, "Yep I don't party anymore because at 26 your to tired after the games". Anyhow I am running off track. Son got his first start and first hit. He was scheduled to catch the first game of the next day. Caught a great game. Had a tear in the eye both games because what a moment right! Felt GREAT all week, could not wait to get up to his school to see him again.
OK you know what 's coming. The stands are packed because it's "Parents Weekend and Homecoming". Senior catches first game. Second game comes up and son takes the plate. We are just smiling. Comes to the plate hitting in the 5 hole...ok he's a freshman we are still thrilled. Pops up to deep right field. Runs down to first rounds the base and turns into jog across the infield after the catch is made. Second inning son is not behind the plate. At the end of the game coach sends the team captain to tell my son he ran fast but not fast enough". Only one game on sunday and son does not play. Yep we are in college ball
