What are some of the smaller DI Programs?

Southern Utah University in Cedar City. Very close to Utah's beautiful Color Country, Lake Powell, skiing, Grand Canyon and if interested Las Vegas. Centenary is in their conference.

And though not DivI Dixie State has moved on from a very strong JC program to a Div II. They are in St. George, Utah.

Kim Il Sung University

I have it on good authority that Kim Il Sung University has a baseball team...the Japanese introduced this venerable American game to Korea, but given its popularity in the South, it comes as a mild surprise that it has survived in the North.


Perhaps Krak the Younger may even land on the national team...

A very good D2 with a small school atmosphere is Florida Southern in Lakeland Florida.
Also a D1 that recently was a D2 is University of North Florida in Jacksonville, Fl. Both are very good Baseball schools.

UNC Asheville. Great academics in the mountains of NC. Good baseball conference (Big South), and oh, yes, I almost forgot, 2006 Big South Champs. PM me if you want more info.

Gotwood, interesting that you should mention that option.....I was WONDERING who this scout was - I snapped this shot of him at our summer showcase while my son was pitching......haven't received an interest letter yet, though.

The MAAC Conference Schools here in the Northeast fit your small school, D1 package as do some in the America East Conference...All very good academic schools also.

Why is that you ask?

Because gummed envelopes are considered a food staple and they certainly aren't going to waste a day's worth of nutrition by sending out a baseball letter...no sir!

Here is a couple of good D1 schools that are relatively small.

Centenary College - Shreveport, LA
Wofford College - Spartenburg, SC

All of the teams in the SoCon should be looked at. It's a very good baseball conference.

App State, Citadel, UNC-Greensboro, Elon, Davidson, Wofford, College of Charleston, Western Carolina

UNC-Wilmington in CAA. Programs also at High Point, Campbell, Gardner-Webb and UNC-Charlotte.

NC has about 17 D1 programs.

What about those Fightin' Camels in Buies Creek?

Although I do remember hearing stories of Uday and Kusay putting together a relatively good team...they won a lot of games by their flawless execution of the pundamentals...only one error per player...and it was always his last!

If your son is a good student, any of the Patriot League schools might be a good fit. Bucknell, Lafayette, Lehigh, etc.

I have seen you Post on the Northwest site. There are two smaller D1 Programs up in this neck of the woods. There is Gonzaga and Portland. Both are excellent private schools. Both play non-conference games against Washington, Washington State and Oregon State.
